This article is exclusively for On-Demand interviews. If you are taking a Live, two-way interview, please click here.
Congratulations on being invited to complete an On-Demand interview (or digital interview.) In this digital interview you will be asked a series of questions that you can respond to from home via webcam or smartphone. Once your interview begins you will have an allotted amount of time to respond to each question. You will have a chance to take a practice question prior to answering the position specific questions. The digital interview can be taken at your leisure, but we recommend responses be completed within 48 hours of receiving your invitation for immediate consideration.
What you will need:
- A computer with a webcam OR smartphone
- A quiet location
- Internet connection
An On-Demand interview is a one-way video recording in which you, the candidate, are prompted to answer a series of preselected questions related to the position you are applying for. Before you begin, you will have the opportunity to answer a practice question. Your response to the practice question will not be reviewed by the employer. When you’re ready, you can move on to the actual questionnaire. Once your interview begins you will have an allotted amount of time to respond to prep for and answer each question. Once submitted, the interview is sent to your potential employer for review. The On-Demand interview is a great way to speak above and beyond your resume and helps speed up the hiring process.
By default, the On-Demand interview cannot be re-recorded. However, if the employer has setup the position to allow you to re-record the interview, there will be a RETRY button at the last step (Step 6: Submit.) If you click RETRY, your previous responses will be erased and you will start fresh at the beginning of the interview. The recruiter will not be able to see your original interview. Unfortunately, you cannot re-record individual questions.
Unfortunately, you cannot re-record individual questions at this time.
You may review and re-record your practice question(s) as many times as you would like. However, once you begin the real interview you may not review your answers.
If you're on a network with a beefed up firewall, like a university, hotel, or work network, the firewall can interfere with the practice playback stream. We recommend switching over to a different web browser, like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If the issue persists, it is most likely the firewall. Fortunately, this does not affect your recording in any way. As long as you can see yourself and the green audio bar moving up and down the right side when you speak, everything is recording properly! Even if you are unable to view your video playback, we recommend continuing with the interview.
Yes, you can still take your interview without a webcam. If you have a smartphone you can take your interview by downloading the ConveyIQ 'Video Interview' app from the Apple App Store or from the Google Play Store.
While you can make that work, our app was specifically designed for the iPhone and other smartphones. If there are any other devices available (laptop, desktop, iPhone, android) that you can use instead, please do.

Some employers will ask you to submit your resume using our software before taking your questionnaire. You will be prompted to submit your resume before moving on to the setup and practice step. Please make sure your resume is in DOC, DOCX or PDF format before uploading it. If it isn't in either of these formats, the system won't accept it.
ConveyIQ DOES NOT have access to any specific information regarding your candidacy or the position itself. While we cannot comment on when you should expect to hear back from the employer, we recommend that you complete your questionnaire in a timely manner to receive a timely response.
I received a 48-72 hour deadline to submit the interview. May I request an extension?
The deadline should be listed in the invitation email that you received. If there isn't one listed there, there might not be a hard deadline set. You can also check on your dashboard under the 'deadline' column.
If you were given a 48-72 hour deadline please note that this is usually just a soft deadline to ensure that interviews are submitted in a timely manner. You should still be able to submit your interview beyond this soft deadline. However, the recruiter can close the position at their discretion, so try to take the digital interview sooner rather than later! Generally, recruiters will wait no longer than 4-5 days after sending an invitation.
We recommend answering questions in the language that they are asked. If the question is asked in French, please respond in French. If the question is asked in English, please respond in English. Unfortunately, we cannot change the language settings of your digital questionnaire. If you feel uncomfortable responding in a particular language, please reach out to your recruiter directly.
Some companies evaluate a candidate's language fluency by asking questions in both languages. Unfortunately, we cannot change the language settings of your digital interview. If you feel uncomfortable responding in a particular language, please reach out to your recruiter directly.
