Whether you are taking our optional practice interview, or beginning your On-Demand Video Interview, you will go through a “Setup Equipment” process.
If you see yourself on the screen, this means that your camera is working properly. Please click “MY CAMERA WORKS” to continue.
Please click “Test Audio” and begin speaking for about 5 seconds.
Please click “Playback Audio” to listen to your recording to make sure that your microphone is working properly. If you are hearing audio, click on "MY MICROPHONE WORKS"
If you find that your camera or microphone are not working, please try the troubleshooting steps below:
Close other programs
Any software that utilizes your camera and/or microphone can block access for your interview. Some examples of these programs include: Skype, Google Hangouts, Photobooth, FaceTime, etc. Be sure to completely close any of these programs and then refresh the page.
Switch to Google Chrome
We highly recommend using Google Chrome for the best results when troubleshooting audio or video issues. Google Chrome automatically updates your Flash Player, which minimizes the possibility of encountering Flash-related audio/video issues. You can download it here: https: www.google.com/chrome
If you are on Chrome, confirm that your browser is allowing access to your microphone and camera
Click on the camera icon to the right of the URL bar. Make sure that “Always allow https://www.taketheinterview.com to access your camera and microphone” is selected. See screenshot below. Once you have chosen this option, refresh the page.
Restart your browser
Sometimes changes to microphone and camera permissions do not take effect until your browser has been restarted.
Utilize a different headset or microphone
If you believe the issue is hardware related, try plugging in another headset/microphone to see if that resolves the issue. Refresh the page to enable the new microphone.
Restart your computer
If the previous steps do not work, try restarting your computer. Oftentimes this will solve the problem if the other steps did not work.
